The 2009 Long Island Fair

The 2009 Fair with much better weather than last year saw our attendance more than double to 15,426 visitors through the gate. What they saw was 3,726 entries in our premium classes and nearly 300 volunteers who contributed more than 3,500 hours of their time to make it happen.

While you were visiting the Fair did you try to guess the weight of the giant pumpkin? If you guessed 383 pounds you might be the winner of a check for $100. Actually several of you guessed 383 pounds, but since there can only be one winner the judges drew one name by lot.

If you didn’t visit this year here is some of what you missed . . .

A ride in the Wells Fargo Coach

The Indian River Olde Time Lumberjack Show

...and our own Long Island Competitors

Back again were our two favorite jugglers complete with last year’s jokes, Shawn Hebert and Ray Grins, who still haven’t learned not to mention the Red Sox on Long Island, and that mystery man in black.

Here are some of the people responsible for this year’s Fair –

We look forward to seeing you here in 2010.
